My objective is to serve with compassion/passion as Western District Director for the 100 Black Men of America, Inc., and specifically as a resource for the 11 Western District Chapters working in unison with the National Headquarters, Chapter Services and Chapter Development Committees of the Corporation.
I have been married nearly 30 years and have one daughter and one son. My formal education includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Computerized Accounting. In 1998, I retired after nearly 30 years with the State of California as an Employment Tax Administrator. Balanced work, family,
and community engagement during my working career by serving as a mentor and coach to youth in the classroom and on basketball courts, baseball, softball, and soccer fields in local community parks and recreation districts.
Upon retirement in 2018, I parlayed experience from early in my career as a Total Quality Management and Continuous Improvement Facilitator and throughout my career as a Strategic Planning, Performance Measurement and Balanced Scorecard Champion to personally consult as Cornelius Strategies for Business and Life, with various non–profit and for–profit businesses and organizations. During 2019, the journey to become a Strategy Focused Organization with the 100 Black Men of Sacramento began through a series of Chapter assessments, Cause and Effect Exercises, Balanced Perspective SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) Analysis that focused on Customers/Stakeholders, Internal Processes, Organizational Learning and Growth, and Financial Perspectives. Gaps, Continuous Improvement, Strategic Goals and Objectives, Definitions, Measures, Targets, Data Dictionaries, Initiatives, Strategy Map, Dashboard, and a Scorecard were developed. 2019 cumulated with my attendance at the National Leadership Conference in Jacksonville Florida. During these precious few days, acquaintance and friendships were developed at the National Level with the Constitutional Officers, Presidents, and Members from across the world leading to my immediate appointment to the 100’s National Strategic Planning Team. Our team, Dr. Joseph ‘Pete’ Silver, Robert Tapley, and I, under the National Direction of the Board of Directors, dissected and analyzed the Bain & Company 2018 Strategic Findings and participated in the crafting and finalization of the 100 Black Men
of America, Inc. 2020–2025 Strategic Plan and Strategy Map that was approved and distributed to all 103 Chapters. This began the effort of working on the National Initiatives as outlined in the plan. This effort entailed working directly with the National CEO, Headquarters Staff, Chapter Presidents and all 11 District Representatives. The recently published President’s Playbook is one of the initiatives completed and implemented to date. In May of 2020, I was elected Chapter President in Sacramento and worked within the confines of COVID–19, Virtual Meetings and Mentoring. I continue to serve in my 2nd term as
Chapter President. In 2022, I applied, and the Sacramento Chapter was approved to begin the Collegiate 100 Chapter at California State University at Sacramento. I also participated and completed the Inaugural 100 Black Men of America Leadership Institute in June of 2022. I have served for two years as a committee member on the National Scholarship event for the Collegiate 100, Doug Williams Celebrity Golf Tournament. Our chapter has leveraged multiple national grants and opportunities throughout the past 4 years. I have served as Chapter Delegate for multiple National Delegate Meetings.
My goal as District Director is to be readily available to perform the duties as outlined in the position description, visit and work directly with all Western Chapters on a continuous basis to realize continual improvement, growth, and success collaboratively. I will work in partnership with the Constitutional Officers, Board of Directors, Headquarters Staff, and each of the 9 other District Director’s to achieve the 100 Black Men of America, Inc., Strategic, Operational, and Tactical Goals as defined and aligned with our Vision, Mission, Core Values and Strategic Plan. Strategy is Everyone’s Job! Data Drives Results!
